Krav Maga Class

Please note that we will have no classes on Monday, the 17th of August. All other classes that week will happen as normal. We apologize for the inconvenience!

The aftermath of our first post-lockdown training at the gym on Saturday, the 1st of August. It was great having so many of you attend the class guys! We hope that you had some well deserved rest over the long weekend and look forward to seeing you in our classes this week!

What is Krav Maga?

Krav Maga is a self defence system that is easy to learn, effective and suitable for most regular people. The techniques that we teach are based on instinctive reactions that our bodies already have. This significantly shortens the amount of time required to learn techniques. It also makes them much easier to use in a stressful situation. For example, if someone tries to choke you, your hands will automatically come up and you will try to break the attacker's grip. Unfortunately relying solely on your body's instinctive response may not be enough, especially against a bigger and stronger opponent. If this wasn't the case, we'd all be great fighters! This is where Krav Maga comes in. Through good quality training you can teach your body to slightly modify the natural response and turn it into a reliable defence. No previous martial arts experience nor a high level of fitness is required to start! In fact, attending classes regularly will not only let you learn how to protect yourself but also help you improve your fitness level!

Ok and what about the instructors? Who teaches the classes?

These days there are quite a few Krav Maga federations out there. Our school is a licensee of the Krav Maga Worldwide organization. In fact, we are the only licensee of KMW in Dublin and Ireland. Check it out, we are listed on their website (you may need to scroll down a bit to get to the international licensees). All of our instructors have passed KMW's rigorous exams to get certified as coaches. Just the first test, which allows you to teach level 1 classes only, is a 7 day long course of 8 hours training/teaching per day, that ends with a full day test. We currently have 4 active instructors: Pablo (Level II), Artur (Level III), Michal (Expert II) and Nikolay (Level I).

All of us have instructor profiles on the KMW website, here. Oh and apart from our Krav Maga teaching certifications, we are all certified as first aiders too.

That sounds great! How can I sign up?

You can get in touch with us and book your free trial class by sending an email to info@kmed.ie. You can also call Michal, one of our instructors, at 086 379 2560.

Please note that due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 you MUST book your training before you show up at the gym. Walk-ins will NOT be accepted. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Ok. What is your class schedule?

Our classes are divided into levels. New students are welcome to attend any of the level 1 classes. We currently have four of them each week, as you can see on the timetable below. Once you've done a few months of training you will be able to take a level 1 test and start attending the intermediate level 2/3 classes. Finally, we also have a level 4/5 advanced class that is open to all students who have passed their level 3 test. The Friday Zoom class is a new type of training that we started conducting during the Covid-19 lockdown. This class is open for students of all levels and covers a variety of techniques from yellow to brown belt.

What do I need to bring for my first class?

You need to bring a set of comfortable gym clothes plus a pair of training shoes to change into and a bottle of water (the bigger, the better - it is important to stay hydrated). Make sure that you are at the gym at least 10 minutes before the class is due to start, to give yourself enough time to fill out a joining form and change into your training clothes. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, if you show up late, we will not be able to let you attend the class. The joining form consists of some basic contact details, a health questionnaire and an acceptance of training risks waiver.

If you ar feeling unwell, have a fever or are experiencing any symptoms of being ill, DO NOT come to training. This is common sense, but our students safety is our number one priority and we MUST make this very clear. The instructor may and WILL ask you te leave the class, if you show clear signs of being sick and attempting to train.

How much does membership cost?

We offer a monthly membership option which gives you access to all the classes of your level or below. The price for the membership is €70 €60 per month (special offer in the month of August).

We also offer private and corporate classes. Please contact us for more details.

Thank you! But I still feel that I'd like to find out more about you. Is there anywhere else I can find more information?

Yes! You can email us at info@kmed.ie with any additional questions you might have. Also, check out our Facebook page. We use it to regularly post about what's going on within our school. See you at the gym!
